Children

At Pearce & Bowler we specialise in children’s eye care because we believe it is the most important time in a person’s life for the development of vision. Up to one in five children have a sight problem that they do not know about and the earlier any problems are picked up, the better chance there is of improving their vision. Sight is such an important part of life and it is vital that we give our children the best start in life so they can reach their potential.

There isn’t much guidance given by the government as to when you should bring your child for a sight test. We recommend that as soon as you have any concerns about your child you should bring them in for an examination. If you do not notice any problems, then it is advisable that by age five your child should have had a sight test. Vision develops rapidly up to the age of eight and it is a critical time to try and prevent any long term vision problems.
